A mission-first leader committed to protecting
what makes Anderson home.
Born and raised in the Upstate. Husband, father, Marine and community advocate.
What good is growth if that growth destroys the very things that make Anderson good in the first place.
What I Believe
Through transparency, accountability, and thoughtful growth we must protect what makes Anderson home - its character, natural beauty and its people.
Who I Am
I am a son of South Carolina born and raised here in the Upstate. After graduating from The Citadel in 2012, I had the honor of commissioning as an officer in the United States Marine Corps. That experience instilled in me a “mission-first” mindset, a discipline I brought home with me to South Carolina when I transitioned into my career in technology.
Today, my most important roles are husband to my wife, Ashley, and father to our four wonderful children. As members of New Covenant Church, our family is deeply rooted in this community. We are blessed to live on a beautiful piece of property in a quiet area of Anderson. I believe that the peace and space we enjoy in Anderson is a blessing that should be protected for every family in this county, not just a lucky few.
Over the past few years, I’ve watched the Anderson I love change for the worse. Our friendly, spacious community is being rapidly transformed into an overcrowded suburb of Greenville. Large-scale developments are blotting out our natural beauty because our current leadership is stuck in a stale, “business as usual” approach to facilitating rapid growth and either unwilling or unable to handle the challenge. What good is growth if that growth destroys the very things that made Anderson good in the place? I’ve seen conflicts of interest reign through our county government, putting tax revenue ahead of the very people the council is sworn to serve.
My father was a “lint head” back in the day working in Anderson nearly 40 years ago, and Anderson County has come a long way since the textile industry left. But in many ways the county is stuck in a mindset that believes “every job promised by a company” is worth a tax break and “more developments mean more revenue” to balance our budgets, this is not the case any more and has not been for over a decade.
I am a young candidate who is ready to bring a fresh perspective and a Marine’s work ethic to our local government. I am eager to serve everyone in Anderson and ensure our county remains a place we are all proud to call home.
My Plan for Anderson
I am not just running to point out problems; I am running to implement conservative,
common-sense solutions. As your Councilman, these are examples of the reform I plan to bring:
End “Automatic” FILOT deals. For too long, Anderson has treated FILOT (Fee-in-Lieu-of-Tax) deals as a formality. I will end the practice of “automatic” approvals. Every single FILOT agreement must undergo a rigorous examination to prove it provides a direct, measurable benefit to the citizens of Anderson—not just a boost to the county’s bottom line at the expense of our infrastructure.
Rebuild Trust Through a Third-Party Audit. Trust in our county government has been eroded by a lack of transparency and mismanagement. I will call for a comprehensive, independent third-party audit of the county’s finances. You work hard for your money; you deserve to know exactly how every dollar of your tax money is being spent.
Eliminate Conflicts of Interest. Our government should work for you, not for well-connected developers or special interests. I will push for strict requirements to remove conflicts of interest among our appointed officials. If an official stands to profit from a project, they should have no seat at the table when that project is being decided.
